Food...

I have a confession. Some of my favorite foods are not what you would typically think of as appetizing. I don't know where it came from. Some of the foods that I crave late at night are things that would make most people gag and run away.

The biggest one? Peanut Butter and Parmesan sandwiches on toast. Yup, that is right. Crispy wheat bread w/ chunky peanut butter on it, slightly melted from the heat of the bread. Grated, sharp and pungent Parmesan or Asiago cheese. Heaven. Even reading this makes me a little sick. I am just curious is anyone else has a secret food that they eat that is out of the norm......

I remember as a kid loving peanut butter and jelly sandwiches with my potato chips right in the sandwich for that extra crunch when you bite in! I still do it now and then and my kids think I'm crazy.

p.s. I'm a total pb lover, and pb toast is my fav, I'll have to try it with the parmesan cheese! As of last Tuesday I'm officially off my no dairy/soy/pb diet for Whitney!! Hallelujah!! Can I get an Amen?? AMEN!!

When I was little, gramma would make me a pb&p (peanut butter and pickle - usually sweet relish) sandwiches, which I adored. I have since lost the taste for it.

MMMM. Peanut Butter and Pickle. Interesting. That reminds me of my FAVORITE sandwich that I have to eat the minute I get off the plane in England. It is called a Cheese Ploughman. It has grated cheese, onion and Brandson Pickel. That is veggies that are pickled in a vinegary brown sauce. Yumm.

As a child I ate pork and beans on toast all the time. I was mocked in my family. I moved to England and learned that Beans on Toast is the Mac and Cheese for most English children. It is fast comfort food. Who knew?

The English also eat coleslaw on baked potatoes. Usually they eat beans (as in Pork and Beans) on the potatoe topped w/ coleslaw. They also put corn on Pizza.

Crazy Brits.

In Mexico they put corn on pizza, too!

I love dipping my french fries in Frostys from Wendy's. That's not too weird... I don't think. I LOVE IT!

French Fries in Ice Cream is an old favorite. I wish I could eat ice cream......

I forgot to mention that the topping of choice with corn is hot dogs. Hmmm. Could anyone go for a hot dog and corn pizza right now?

Only if you put blue cheese dressing on it---or Goat Cheese--since it is France after all.....

I'll eat just about anything, especially if it's pickled. My dad toasts cheerios: one cube butter, bunch of cheerios, garlic salt. Melt butter, add cheerios, stir until hot, sprinkle with garlic salt/powder. Tassstteee.

Dad had all kinds of crazy old-fashioned recipes, like PB & Honey sandwiches (so divine.) Worcestershire sauce in clam chowder. Fry sauce on fish sticks. Parmesan popcorn.

I eat all kinds of wierd cheeses.

Ohohoh! Anchovies. They are good as long as you use them sparingly. Sometimes, if you don't know why a savory dish is so tasty, it might be because of the anchovies.

I did make a bad judgement call once and ordered a pineapple and anchovy pizza.

ever tried bangers and mash?

Bangers and Mash are my FAVORITE. I occasionally cover them in Brown Sauce. Ymmmmmmy. I love to do Toad in the hole too. I think that I was born English in an American Body.

I also ate a battered, deep fried Snickers bar more then once when I was in Scotland!!

I once ate a peanut butter, mayonnaise & white onion sandwich. My friend's mom made it and knew how with just the right portion of each ingredient so that the yuckies were cancelled out and all that was left was a crunchy, refreshingly sweet summer sandwich. Don't try it at home.

Also, peanut butter toast dipped in cocoa.

I love the peanut butter and chocolate chip sandwich--toast it up so it is melty and crunchy. I also love to pur a bit of pickle on a bite of cheese and dip it in mustard. I love all of the bland and delicious english food (except for mushy peas. Peas are bad) but W won't go near it. I love anchovies on pizzas--but pineapple would be a bit too much.
