No pictures.....

Hey everyone..

I am working on getting DAY TWO put up, but I have not been able to add pictures to blogger. Yeah, I know. SO SO SO annoying. Grr. I will hear back from Blogger today and they will let me know what is wrong. I will post it w/ out pictures if I can't get any help from them....

Thanks for the comments....it is nice to know people are reading...

Also, it is official. Project Baby is in full swing. We are getting our paperwork finished for Ethiopia ASAP. We are very excited. You might hear more about adoption from Africa then you ever wanted to in the next few months....

Yay!!! I'm so excited for you (about the adoption--not about the no picture thing)! Welcome aboard this crazy bandwagon. Do you mind if I ask, which agency are you using? Please feel free to say---None of your business!!!!

Oh, and we can never hear too much Africa info!

Well Sarah...

I THOUGHT we were going to us CHFS, but they won't let you continue if you get pregnant. Not that I think I am going to get pregnant.....but last year I did manage a suprise pregnancy at the same time we were trying to adopt Cubby's baby brother. We just feel very strongly that decision is up to us as a family and our social worker, not an agency decision..

I talked w/ Dove yesterday, and liked them, but really, really, really liked Childrens Home....

You are with them, right?

Decisions...

We are using AAI. Is Children's Home the full name, that one is not ringing a bell although I probably have info from them sitting around here somewhere. We used Childrens Hope International for our homestudy, they are just now starting an Ehiopia program. Did they tell you what your wait should be like? (Feel free to just email me if you want :) )

I'm so excited for you! I want to hear EVERY DETAIL you're willing to share. I'm not emotionally ready to get another one yet (my hands are WAY too full) but I can't help getting excited hearing about other people's adoptions.

Wide Horizons has the same policy about not getting pregnant...it's stressful!! I feel like I'm in high school. Don't tell them I said this, but as we get closer, we've decided we can always lie about it if it happens accidentally. I mean, we're actively trying NOT to get pregnant, but we all know how that often goes...Anywho, Dove is FAST!!!!!!!! People are still getting referrals and home lickety split. Good luck with everything and I look forward to following your journey! If you get a kid before us, I will be angry :)

We are just starting the paper work for Ethiopia too! Wierd. Anyway, it will be our 3rd adoptiong but 1st international one. I will love to hear about your experience!

Here is a blog I like, a Mom with 2 girls from Ethiopia, and many more children.

We are going to use CHildrens House International. The worker with the Ethiopia program is really top notch, at least she seemed so on the phone and in emails.

Sarah, the full name is Childrens HOme and Family Services...they have a very established program. Not a nosey question at all. Actually, we haven't applied anywhere yet..... but we ARE gathering dossier docs..we have a list of what is needed.

Dove is still moving really quickly..true. I talked to the lady yesterday and she said referrals are still moving at about 2-4 months for either gender. She doesn't have a longer waiting list for girls. I do like how Childrens Home and Wide HOrizens have a care center for the kdis. That is great.

I hear you about the pregnant thing... :-) That is what our social worker said too.

One of the reasons we like Dove is that they pull kids from the SOS Orphanage System. It is a cool concept. It is a planned community w/ subsitized housing for foster parents. One set of parents gets a home and they "foster" 4 or 5 kids. The kids stay there forever...even after they are adults they have a "home" to come to. There is a school and hospital/dr. on the grounds so there is very little need for the kids to leave the "town". This helps insulated them from the stuff that happens on the outside to kids. It is like family based orphan care. It is working really well (ironically, not working well in the US...it is too easy to get free housing and food from the govt...no incentive to stay). :-)

We used Adoption Advocates International and they were terrific!
