Local Boy Wins...

For all you Amazing Race fans!!

Hurray for BJ and Tyler. Tyler is from Woodside.....the town right next to my little town. His dad, Jamis, owns the resturaunt called Bucks (in the late 90's it was THE place for tech deals to happen over breakfast). Derek and I had our first date at Bucks. We also met Shirly Temple Black and Joan Biaz there once, they weren't together but they are locals. Jamis is a wacky, artist type and his kids are very intelligent free spirits. Tyler is his middle son and his youngest son is my youngest brother in law's best friend. A few years ago Tyler made a movie by walking from the bottom of Japan to the top. He does stuff like that. Amazing Race was nothing.

It couldn't have happened to a nicer guy (and I am glad it wasn't those d%#@ frat boys!!)

Hooray, indeed. And TTOW. I'm so glad they won. They're just good.

I usually don't regret my decision to not watch much TV and to certainly avoid reality shows. But would've been interesting to see some of your hometown characters!

(You're adopting from Ethiopia in a few months?! fantastic! Hope to hear more about it)

They certainly deserved to win. They were the most fun, interesting players they've had in a long time (maybe ever?). Love those hippies!

I was so happy they won! It was so nice to see people that actually thrived by traveling in foreign countries rather than the usual nag and complain that we've seen in amazing races' past. (that annoying family in last season--ugh.) They deserved it, and earned it.

Ironically, they aren't really hippies at all. That is just a good example of how they knew marketing would work in their favor. They just decided not to cut their hair or shave.

I LOVE that they helped other people and still won. :-)

(I didn't mean good as in skilled, necessarily, I just meant they're good people. For mak, in case that was a question.)

Bek, I was jumping up and down and clapping when I saw the finish! This TAR has been the best. It, and the "hippies", proved you didn't have to be mean or uncaring to win this race. I loved it and look forward to the next. If you ever happen to run into the guys, let them know we thought they were super.

Ask them where they got those foxy red pants.

Hey little bro!! Howdy.

You DID see "Kintero walks Japan?" Wow, that is impressive. There is a new Amazing Race dish to be put on the menu at Bucks. I hope it isn't something nasty like bugs, etc.

Ha, my word verificaion word was leyin.....just like la yen....

I watched one episode of the amazing race - the finale - and the three of us in the room: myself, my newlywed daughter and her usually quiet cowboy husband (none of us invested AT ALL in the show before that night) were yelling, sweating over who would win and chanting: Hippies! Hippies! Hippies! How lucky are you- You're only separated from them by about four degrees ... "Tyler is his middle son and his youngest son is my youngest brother in law's best friend"

Hooray for the hippies. I was very happy to see them win, too. Now I want to see his Japan-walking movie.

Bek - you have inspired me with your last post. Check out the results on my blog...
