Baby's first hairdo...

Ok friends,

Here is my first foray into the world of hair styles. Norah is only 3 months old and I am not ready to start braiding yet (although it is long enough). I just did sections of hair (but not the super crisp parts that you usually see on little girls). I did a flat twist (that lasted all of two minutes) and secured it with a claw clip. It looked MUCH cuter in person. I am wary about braiding her hair this young because I don't want to pull it all out. The front is pretty long and has such beautiful curl, but it gets frizzy by the end of the day. The sides just start out frizzy. I think that a lot of that has to do with the fact that she is sitting in her chair all day. I don't even worry about the back for the same reason. It doesn't help that we rub it all day long. I put some product in her hair yesterday called "Mixed chicks" and it was awesome. It kept the curl very defined and soft and moisturized, but not crunchy or oily. I have been keeping her mostly in bows and head bands but this is nice for a change. I went kind of crazy in Walmart in the hair aisle. They have really cute little clips. I am so excited to her to wear them all.

On another note, my girl has RSV or Bronchialitis, we have to wait for the test to come back to be sure. We have all had colds for a few weeks and she has been congested for awhile. This morning she was really raspy and was having a hard time breathing. She was trying really hard to get air into her lungs and panting. I was on the way to the dentist w/ the older two (have mercy..............) and they told me to get her in RIGHT AWAY. I took her to the Urgent Care and she was not getting enough oxygen. After three (!!!!) treatments of Albuteral her oxygen level was still not quite where they wanted it to be. I have to keep her on it the rest of the day and if her levels haven't gone up by the end of the day, she will have to stay overnight at the hospital.

Derek is out of town.

We save all this kind of stuff for when daddy is gone. I have to find someone to stay at my house w/ my kids overnight. I guess I could just take her to the hospital and then come home to stay w/ the kiddos, but I don't really want to do that. If my infant is in the hospital, I would like to be there, KWIM? I may not have much of a choice.

Dedicated blogger that I am, I STILL posted today. Keep us in your prayers that everything is going to be fine at the Dr. this afternoon............

Aw, man! I would definitely be pulled to stay in the hospital, too. C'mon, albuterol, fix that kiddo up.

We'll be praying.

Awwwwwwww she is so cute!! Wish I could come over to help- I could handle Cubby- him and Beanie could whollop on each other and have a good old time... Jeff and Lu could play girl stuff, cause thats the way my boy is!

I hope Nori is ok- I've been there with the albuterol treatments... hang in there.

Oh! I wish I could help. When my husband is out of town, extra prayers go out for all my single mom friends who do it alone all the time. I hope she gets better soon.

I have been there many times and I am SO sorry! I hope she is better soon. And if you find yourself in the hospital tomorrow and don't have time to post... send me your info and I'll do it for you! That's what virtual friends are for.

And I'll pray for sweet Norah with the gorgeous hair.

How could a baby with such cute hair be sick? I'm sorry how things are going for you---especially with your husband out of town. Best wishes to your family!

That is so cute!

My mom has proclaimed me "baby hairstylist" for my new younger sibling from Ethiopia. Of course, if the baby's a boy it will be much easier- but if it's a girl, it may pose a challenge! Do you have any advice on where I can find (easy) hairstyles to do on African hair? (If you want, you can respond on my blog, http://www.bigsisdiaries.blogspot.com)

Thanks! And Norah is TOO cute!

ugh. I'm so sorry Bek. That is WAY too much for that sweet babe. Molly was my RSV/bronch. baby. They just sent us with the nebulizer and it was practically all day/night, everyday for a couple of days and she did get better. She always had a tough time with colds so they ended up having us do the breathing treatments as a preventative (am and pm), and when she was about 3 we kicked it for good.

I hate that nasty gut feeling when they started coughing and gagging. Poor thing. And of COURSE Derek is gone, why would anything like this happen when he was in town? I hope you got to stay home with her and avoid the hospital. Have someone pick up lots of movies and food for you guys. Thinking of you. . .

Ugh, so sorry things are so awful. I hope things worked out for last night. JJ had to go to the er once also, for breathing problems. He still gets his Nebulizer almost every time he gets an upper respiratory infection. He had 3 treatments the day we left for Utah. My SIL said her little one outgrew his 'asthma' too. I hope you guys are doing OK. Sure wish I could hop on over and help out!! HUGE HUGS!!!

Your kids are adorable!! It was good to hear about "mixed chicks"- I might email you in the future for some hair tips!

Sorry about the sickness. Claire had RSV two times when she was a little one. It sucks! Hope Norah gets well fast. She is SO cute and her hair is to die for (Claire would be so jealous if she could see how much hair Norah already has)!
