I pity the fool...........

Pre-Katrina Mr. T

Now he is post-Katrina Mr. T (no chains...)

Aren't you just humming the theme to The A Team right now? How cute is Mr. T? His costume turned out so well. My boy looks surprisingly good in a mohawk too. I might keep it for awhile. Cub was going to be Mr. T last year, but we got the evil outbreak of lice that WOULDN'T GO AWAY (thank you, kindergarten). We had to shave his head right before Halloween and he was Yoda instead.

This year we were ready. We grew his hair out for about a month so that we would get a good mohawk. Derek did the cutting (usually I play the barber) and he did such a good job. It is much more even and precise then it would have been if I was doing it. Cutting hair is an interesting task at our house. The second he hears the clippers turn on, Jacob runs for the hills. Once we catch him and hold him down, he will cry, scream, put his hands in his hair and throw a big fuss. More than twice Jacob has gone for a few days with half a haircut.

I wondered if J would keep the beads on. Lucky for me about a month ago he became obsessed with some of Lulu's bead necklaces. They are the first thing he digs out of the toy basket in the morning and he spends the whole day alternately wearing them and hitting the girls with them (he is still a boy after all). He had about 20 necklaces on for his costume and he kept those beads on the whole day. He loved it. I was pretty impressed. I didn't get a great shot of him in his full costume. This age is really hard to capture on film and I realized why there aren't many pictures of Lulu at this age. Things aren't looking good for J either.

We went to a church Halloween party on Saturday. It was a good dry run with the costumes. We met most of our friends there and got to see how cute their kids looked. There are some very creative parents out there. Also, Steve Young was out there (I don't know if he is creative or not--his son was a Power Ranger, so you decide). He has three kids now and goes to our church. I know that this is lame. You all know how I love my celebrity gossip and he is kind of a celebrity, right? We don't know him at all. Once my son hit his son in nursery, but that is the extent of our relationship. That and me taking sneaky pictures of him during the costume parade.

After the party we went to a pumpkin patch that had three or four big blow up things to play on. There was a giant slide that Lulu LOVED and a little bouncy castle thing that Jacob loved. He thought the place where you get in/out was a slide. Double the fun, right? It only cost about 5 bucks per child and they could play all they want. That is my kind of pumpkin patch. We didn't even have to buy a pumpkin.

We did get a few looks about having Jacob be Mr. T. I am not sure why though. Mr. T seems like a nice guy. I saw him on Conan a few months ago and he was engaging, funny and was holding his own with Conan. He has a new show called "I Pity the Fool" where he is some kind of life coach for people who are (in my opinion) beyond help. He has always tried to be a good role model for kids. He is a terrible actor (sorry T) but seems to be a good human being. We tried to teach Cubby to say "I pity the fool" but it came out more like "pity, folehoseohr". There is always next year.

Coming up next.......... Lauren and the Halloween Marathon (and the story about how she wanted to be a different thing for each party..........).

Caleb was Mr. T for his first Halloween. He was 10 months old and never had a haircut. It just grew in as a mowhawk and we left it! After Halloween we gave him his first haircut and people in the ward were saying things like, "We wondered when you were going to cut his hair. That mowhawk was a little much." Yeah, they actually said things like that to me. I LIKED the mohawk! Oh well. We skipped Halloween this year because the kids don't know the difference and I didn't care. Mother of the year!

I would have thought for sure that Steve Young was a dresser-upper for Halloween....especially if you've got the money.

your sneaky picture is hilarious! that's something I would do. next time try to get his wife- let's see the cute lady he married! ;-)

Christy---people are dumb. Really. Besides, you don't cut black boy's hair before they are one...or two even. I was stopped and talked to because we DID cut his hair. You can't win! This is the first year that I had a kid that "knew" it was time to trick or treat. Otherwise, I would have stayed home. Really.

Amber--he is pretty photogenic. His next younger brother looks JUST like him and he has a new sister that apparently looks like him too. Lucky kids. :-) I think it is because he is always smiling.

Liz--his wife's name is Barb. She is tall and blonde and very, very nice. She is always smiling and just seems to be a really easy going mom. Their oldest is about the same age as my oldest (a boy) the next one is a bit older than J (another boy) and the baby is a girl.

Lyle--maybe Steve was dressed up as a former 49'ers football player. Or a former BYU ball player. Yeah, that is it. He was on his bluetooth the whole time. People stop and talk to them ALL the time and want to rehash football stories. They are always gracious. We had another BYU/9'ers QB in our ward and it was the same story. Whenever someone would visit....they wanted to talk football. It takes a more patient wife than I would be, that is for sure!!

Plain Jane--HI MOM! I know that other family memebers read but no one comments.....hint, hint!!

Didn't lauren beat up Jim Belushi's kid on one of your hawaii vacations? Your kids are kind of discriminating! My kid will beat up anyone. (I very much look forward to getting him and Jacob together in the ring this christmas...)

That is true. She threw sand at Jim Belushi's daughter. My kids ONLY pick on famous kids.

Madonna's new boy better watch out....... sigh....

LOVE the costume! He is so adorable. And I like wendysue's idea for the bumper sticker. Can I visit your ward so my son can "earn" one for us, too. I'm pretty sure Oscar has beat up every kid in nursery at least once. Ok, maybe not beat up... just roughed up.

I laughed outloud at the Yoda costume.

Maybe that wasn't Steve Young maybe it was someone DRESSED UP as Steve Young. Did you think of that?

Suzi...if Oscar is a ringer, we have a kid we would ALL like him to beat up in nursery. You know how there is always one goon in there? Grrr.

At least that goon is keeping my kid from being the goon.......

CJane... I did think of that......but the costume was SO lifelike...and he was even with STeve Young's wife and kids...that is dedication.
