Good Times

This is what my kids do for fun. They all LOVE this game.
(also see the new floors? the new rugs? the wall color? Help me decorate. I need pillows...more house pictures to come soon, but this is your sneak peek).

What are you thinking? The color combo and the rugs you have go more towards an eclectic, old world, rustic, or Americana vibe. What do you like, what are you aiming for?

Well, the walls are yellowish b/c there is no natural light. ALl my furniture is dark wook and simple lines. The couch is dark microfiber b/c my kids are dirty and it is easy to clean. The rugs are light and don't have too much pattern but are still stain hiders. The other chiar was free from my mil. That is what we have for now. I love the looks of any Amy Butler fabric. I love bold colors and mix and match patterns. I tend to gravitate towards simple clean lines, but can't pull off the mid century modern thing (I could do touches of it..like color). I love the clarks house but don't know if I could pull it off. Most of the stuff we did in the house was for resale. I would love a space that is vibrant, colorful and fun. I like how catalouges like PB have wonderful lamps, pillows, layers. Things that make it seem friendly and lived in (NOT necessarily their stuff, but just the style). I LOVE french country. In fact, the magazine that I open and cry over because I want everything is Ballard Design. So, I like that kind of whimsy but not too fussy.

Is that as clear as mud? I also have LOTS of pictures and frames and will use that for many of the wall decorations, plus I have a few great antique botanical prints, etc, but I would love one big, focal piece. Lisa, are you going to paint one for me? ;-)

I freaking LOVE that photo of your kids. My new favorite photo.

The best part is that it does help me sweep the floor (bad part, more laundry). Funny part? Nono always is pulling something too. Usually her funnybunny, but often a ball or block. She shreaks if she doesn't have something.

They kill me.

I think you're onto something with the Amy Butler fabrics and your existing things. You should find out if anyone has her fabrics in stock near where you live. Take a sample of your paint to the store and look for matches to fabric. Pick a floral/pattern and a graphic, make sure they aren't the same scale (i.e. your floral can be big and your graphic small, or vice versa.) Think one color, taken from the patterned fabric, in a textured fabric to match.

I like the dark furniture with the lighter walls. Even a few black or chocolate brown pieces, like aged bronze lamps, against the wall color would look nice. If you're keeping your furniture the way it is (and not slipcovering) I'd suggest lighter/brighter colored pillows for contrast.

Think this way: lighter walls, darker furniture; dark floors, light coverings, add pattern and texture.

You are amazing. That is a good start. I don't know anyone that has Amy Butler (well, I am sure there are place in the city but I don't want to go up there). BUT Repo Depo sends swatches, so I might do that....

My furniture is also black (and I have two black lamps for the console table!! yah). I'll keep you posted.

Bek,

I am so glad you are back to blogging. You can only "ignore the crazy" for so long.

And blessings upon your pregnant state!

Oh, and in case anyone notices, that's really 2:39 a.m. I just got home from work. Can you believe it?

I love the walls and floor! I stink at design advice - that's what my sister's for! She's in design school in SF. I'm trying to get her to move out here when she's done so she can totally transform our space.

My sister was just telling me where she could get me Amy Butler for cheap(er). Let me know if you're interested (it is in SF, though).

Rebecca,

Thanks for checking my blog - you're one of the only people that leaves me comments. I'm glad to see you're on again. I'm sorry you've had such a crazy time the last few months and I'm sorry I haven't been there for you. I hope you know I care.

Lauren looks so cute with her hair cut!

Those dark beautiful floors really bring out the children. Hee. They're so cute, it's hard to look at the room.

We did the accent wall thing at our old place, and I really loved it. It was a very dark red wall in our living room, with plain furniture and a few pillows that had flecks of red in them. It was the first time I felt like my space "pulled together". I like simple lines with quirky beloved items to set it all off.

Those are great base colors!

I have just done 6 paintings for Page, and am currently working on one for Lindsay and one for Gina. I think of all of these as good warm-ups for the painting I will do for you!

I need to know size and theme. I love your colors, and I see this painting as something that will really pop (and something you can eventually change out from time to time, cause that's how we roll!)

Rock on, little Binghams. The games kids make up are the best. Like the Clark kid family tradition: run around in the circle which is our livingroom/kitchen and throw pillows as each one rounds the living room. Classic.

L...lets come up with something fun for the playroom side of it. Whimsical and child like, but fun...

You are doing a LOT of paintings..sheesh...
