Tests...

Well, it is over.

The amnio didn't hurt as much as I thought it would. It didn't hurt going in and just kind of stung while it was in there. Not too bad. Frankly, hearing the statistics was the hardest part.

I should have some initial results on Sunday evening. So we just wait. I feel very relieved now and think that much of the stress was waiting to take the test. Who wouldn't stress over the anticipation of having a huge needle put into their stomach? I am on strict bed rest for the next two days (because of course I am having every post amnio complication.... why not?) and I plan to read a lot and not put any children to bed. Heaven.

Also, the tech said she couldn't get a good shot of the baby to check gender and said she wouldn't bet on it, but it looked like a GIRL to her. I know this baby isn't a girl so we are going to wait and see just how those chromosomes turn out..... I think I am more prepared to have a Downs baby than a girl baby at this point. It isn't a girl. I just know it.......... of maybe my bat senses are now officially off.....

I'm so glad for you that the test is over. And, most importantly, you have two days of rest. Yessssssss! I'll be praying for you and your results.

Thinking of you, and hoping things settle down soon!

Anne!! I have missed your updates too. How is little (big, now) Hyatt? I don't have the password to your new blog... email me (or I can get it from Mary...)...

Wendy..loved the pictures of the girls in Haiti. They are so big and so beautiful. I am praying that you get them home soon, soon, soon. Next time we come to Utah we need to get the kids all together...

Bed? Books? Hmm...you make it all sound so glamorous.

Hearts with you!

No, the glamorous part is the half of box of Wheat Thins and canister of Better Cheddar I ate while reading tonight... that is glamour (it was all that I could get at the drugstore on the way home... I didn't prepare very well...)

Oh I do hope you have some help getting that bed rest!

I know what you mean about knowing. I knew with every single one of mine, even when I secretly (and only temporarily) wished I were wrong. I would have been completely shocked and disillusioned had they arrived any differently that how they did.

Best wishes--

I'm really happy you're back, Bek! I stopped checking for updates in September, but was thinking about you today and was so surprised to see a bunch of updates! I'm really sorry for whatever you went through this summer and am sending lots of positive vibes that Skeletor is OK.

The last time you wrote, I had just come home from Ethiopia with my beautiful little girl (finally). I realized as I was reading your updates, that Amelie is the same age as Nora, 16 months! All that time I was waiting for her and seeing pictures of your baby, they were the same age. Pretty cool. I cannot wait until Amelie has hair like Nora! It's awesome. Lu and Jacob look so grown up. I'm pregnant now too, 8 weeks and just had my first ultrasound--you know, the one with the "rude device"? Lovely.

Take care and I'm glad you're back!

Bek-

Maybe your bat senses are off for your own pregnancy? I know you were right-on for both of mine!

Glad it wasn't as bad as anticipated. We are praying for you, too!

Love you!!

I'm glad it is over! But how are you so sure it isn't a girl?

Bek, glad you made it past this hurdle. Prayers are still going up from my house . . . .

Better Cheddar? They still make that stuff? Is it still slightly grainy and slightly delicious?
