To Do List Today...

1. Call following doctors and make appts for Norah: neruologist, dermatologist, audiologist and early intervention center. Force feed her in between (she gained 1 pound last month...hurrah, a pound that I EARNED with blood, sweat and tears).

2. Make coffin for/ plan burial service for Sleepy, the hermit crab. Poor Sleepy lasted just a few weeks. Gulp. My daughter does NOT handle death of pets well. Maybe that is why we shouldn't have let her have any more.

3. Take Jacob to the doctor so we can get his stitches out. Prepare to be verbally abused (he kept calling the doctor "stupid, you are so stupid" when he got them in. That is the ultimate swear in our house) and kicked. This kid is freakishly strong.

4. Get glitter glue off Jacob's face and hair before I take him in.

5. Wash brush and comb Norah's hair. Braid.

6. Buy a house and try and figure out WHY this was a good idea when I am seconds from delivering a baby. Get mortgage loan papers to realtor. Confirm last two inspections and review and sign counter offer. We decided to start "looking" 9 days ago.... more on this story later....

7. Two loads of laundry. This MUST be done because we are all running around either half naked (Jacob), in our worst and least favorite maternity shirt (me) or dress-ups (the girls).

8. Try NOT to eat the entire Key Lime Pie in my fridge that is for a friend. I think I can, I think I can, I think I can..

There you have it. That is seriously my to do list today. Any ideas how to get glitter glue off a small boy? A nice scripture for Sleepy the Hermit Crab? Key Lime Pie? Anyone?

P.S. Spell check wouldn't work on this post and I am too lazy to retype this on Word and make sure I spelled everything right. If I show my uneducated spelling roots here, oh well. My teacher mother will be horrified, but I am too tired. Did I mention that my children are vampires and don't sleep at night? ;-)

I've decided spelling correctly is overated. People read for content and honestly most I think miss most mispelled words....and I am tired of working on the same words over and over with my son who is a smart kid. And will be an adult who relies heavily on spell check.

Glitter glue....I'd try finger nail polish remover on the skin....the hair? I might just leave it. Actually I might just leave all of it. Its who he is....today.

And your going to move???? This requires a misspelled post soon!!

How about "Jesus Wept"? Or paraphrase from Fiddler on the Roof: "Sunrise, Sunset, Little Hermit Crabs, Where'd they Go?"

Good luck. See if the doctor will give him a valium as a special prize.

All great advice.... poor Lauren is already asking me to dig up Fairylu (our series of 6 fish) so we can take them with us.

Good times.

Yen.. I think I have a few valium stashed away somewhere..... hmmmmmm

how did you make it to music class with a list like this? wow.

anyhow, here's a nice crab poem - you could change "blue crab" to "hermit crab" or "our crab" or "dear crab" :)

Some Advice Concerning Crabs

Blue crabs may be friendly,
Blue crabs may be nice,
but if you meet a blue crab, let me give you some advice-

Say "hello, how do you do?"
Smile and be polite.
Comment on the weather;
say “It’s such a lovely night.”

Ask him if he travels;
if he’s been to many lands-
but never, never, never, ever
offer to shake hands.

All that and don't forget to vote today!

angie, great poem.

Taber, did YOU vote? On NPR they were featuring Americans in other countries that voted... actually I am a permanent absentee voter b/c I always seem to be too busy on vote day, so I did it last week....

The urge to move residences late in the third trimester may be genetic. I did the same thing when I was pregnant with Samuel and I decided that I couldn't stand the noice from the the neighbors for one more second. A week later we were gone!

I think every woman should be allowed one crazy obsession/impulsive action per pregnancy. If I recall, when you were pregnant with Lauren, Derek and I had to paint the dining 4 times in different variations of yellow/stripes before you decided on the original color. Moving houses is far more productive! Way to go (do you want help painting the dining room?)

I have no advice. But when I read the words "seconds from delivering" I got giddy with excitement. New baby pictures! (p.s. good luck with your list...the key lime pie would be my downfall...)

My life seems so much less complicated after reading your "To Do List"! I am amazed that you even have time to write. I hope you can find a really great nanny soon and I look forward to reading your future posts.

As for the glitter situation: Have you tried Baby Oil?

We moved into this house on a Saturday, and I had Noel on Tuesday, so I get it. . .and I made Josh do ALL of the packing, so if it's possible, you must do the same. YOU NEED HELP! In fact, it turned out to be not all bad, because by the time I got back with the baby, we were pretty much settled (we're fast unpackers). . .and I had a legit excuse.

If it makes you feel any better, my kids are currently eating pieces of cheese for breakfast that I'm slicing directly from the block and am overwhelmed myself with the prospect of our own move. . .which puts me in a catatonic state and, by the end of the day, means I will have accomplished absolutely nothing.

But you still win. I wish we could be there to help.

Petie, you have your own hands full... for sure. I wish that I could put this all on my husband, his job has a few busy times of year and that particular one seems to be one of them. He will do as much as he can, but I am not sure how much time he can actually give it.... I will find help...maybe one of my sisters will do it or we can find a college student that wants to make a bit of extra cash.... it will get done, that I know. Good luck with your new house and move.... at least you give your kids cheese from the block. I just throw them a package of string cheese....

Mem, I tried baby oil, nada. I finally just scraped it off and cut the stuff out of his hair. Voila.

Oh Honey! Why oh why oh why are buying a house right now?? Was there not enough on your plate? :)

Good luck- and sorry I haven't gotten back to you on that awesome and wonderful email you sent me- I've had my &*%$ mother here for the last week, and I couldn't get on the computer.

Sending love your way...

No Tracy, we like to torture ourselves here..... trust me, the house is worth it. Plus, if I play my cards right and manage to get on bedrest, I don't have to do ANYTHING... anyone want to come down and get paid to help me pack? Really. I am not kidding....

Haven't voted yet. Texas doesn't have its primary for another month, and my absentee ballot hasn't arrived in the mail yet. But I will vote. Although now that it looks like McCain is going to win the nomination, I'll probably vote for Obama just to try to avoid Hillary!

You know if you really can't do it all I suggest letting go of #8.

p.s. I'm still laughing over your comment about Fairylu...

We are also in the midst of a possible house selling-buying-moving deal. My OB tells me it's pretty common to do this in the third trimester, and I can't help but think we're all nuts!

Can't wait to hear more...
